The idea for Browning & Berry Fine Goods was born beneath the big skies and rugged mountains of Greenough, Montana, at the legendary Paws Up Western Resort. During a women’s retreat with the Booth Western Art Museum, Ellen Browning and Patti Berry joined seventeen remarkable women from Cartersville, Georgia, on a journey that awakened something deep within them — a spirit of adventure, independence, and discovery.
Along the Blackfoot River, as trout leapt from the water and laughter echoed across the Bob Marshall Wilderness, they found their inner cowgirl spirit. Surrounded by sixty authentic women whose stories of struggle, triumph, and loss carried the weight of real experience, something came alive. Bonds were formed in a way that can only be described as magical.
Somewhere between easy conversations, laughter, and the spirit of the American West, an idea took shape. Ellen & Patti decided they were not finished with their story; they had more dreams to chase. What if we created a place that celebrated the things we love most - timeless style, meaningful craftsmanship, and the joy of gathering beautiful things to tell a story?
That magical moment sparked the beginning of Browning & Berry Fine Goods.
It was there, under Montana’s endless sky, that the seed of Browning & Berry was planted. Over a simple campfire meal — with nothing more than friendship, respect, and a handshake
— Ellen and Patti committed to turning inspiration into reality.
Though both had built long careers in the insurance world, the call to step outside their comfort zones was undeniable. Together, they chose to take a risk — to create a boutique that reflects not only fine craftsmanship and timeless style, but also the values of courage, friendship, and community.
